Sea Salt Sweet Potato Steak Fries
Thick-cut skin-on sweet potato steak fries baked until crisp with olive oil, sea salt, and pepper—a lighter take on a favorite side.
Ingredients
- 1 large sweet potato or 2 medium, scrubbed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
- 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt crystals (optional)
Steps
- Preheat oven to 425°F. Spray a large baking sheet with nonstick spray.
- Scrub the sweet potato(s) well. Cut in half, then into quarters, and into large steak-fry wedges.
- Place the sweet potato on the prepared baking sheet. Pour oil evenly over the wedges. Sprinkle with sea salt and pepper and mix with your hands.
- Arrange the potato steaks in a single layer without overcrowding. Use two baking sheets if needed.
- Bake for 15 minutes on the middle rack. Turn them and bake for 10 to 12 more minutes or until edges start to brown.
- Sprinkle with coarse sea salt crystals if using. Serve hot.
