Outrageous Garlic Bread
Ina Garten’s outrageous garlic bread with slow-cooked garlic butter, Parmesan, parsley, and lemon zest baked on a scored French baguette until bubbly and golden.
Ingredients
- 12 tablespoons (1½ sticks) unsalted butter
- 1 head garlic, cloves separated and peeled
- 1 cup freshly grated Italian Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
- 2 teaspoons grated lemon zest
- ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 1 (20 to 24-inch-long) crusty French baguette
- Fleur de sel or sea salt
Steps
- Preheat oven to 450°F.
- Melt butter over low heat, add garlic, cover, and cook 20 minutes until very tender. Cool slightly.
- Mash garlic into butter and stir in Parmesan, parsley, lemon zest, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
- Slice baguette in half lengthwise and score each half diagonally without cutting through.
- Spread garlic mixture generously on cut sides, cut each half crosswise into 2 pieces, and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake 5–7 minutes until bubbly and starting to brown. Cut along scores, sprinkle with fleur de sel, and serve warm.
