Classic Mint Mojito

Classic Mint Mojito

Yield: 2 servings From Episode 42

A bright summer mojito built on simple syrup, muddled mint and lime, white rum, and sparkling water.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 20 sprigs fresh mint
  • 1 lime, cut into small wedges
  • 2 oz white rum
  • Ice
  • 2 oz sparkling water
  • Extra mint sprigs, for garnish

Steps

  1. Add sugar and water to a small saucepan; bring to a simmer and cook until the sugar dissolves, 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from heat and cool.
  2. Add mint and lime to a small pitcher or large glass. Muddle about a minute until the lime juice is extracted and the mint oils release (do not over-muddle).
  3. Add the cooled simple syrup and rum to the mint and lime.
  4. Fill each glass with ice. Pour half the mojito mixture into each glass and top with sparkling water.
  5. Garnish with mint sprigs and serve.
